Hello!
My name is Mihkel.
I am the founder and CEO of TerasTamm.
I grew up in the countryside, building treehouses, sawing boards, and driving hundreds of nails into them. My father must have seen that I wasn’t just playing around; I was genuinely interested. He bought me two big woodworking tools: a mitre saw and a small planer. I immediately loved these tools because I realized that things could be built beautifully and precisely. That’s where my passion for woodworking and creating things with my hands began.
Over time, I acquired more skills and tools. Eventually, I had so many that I needed to find a separate place to store them. Together with friends, who later became my team, we found an old barn and renovated it: we knocked down walls, cleared out hay and manure, built new walls, insulated it, and poured a new floor. This is how it gradually evolved. What started as a hobby grew into something more—something I call a calling.
Creating TerasTamm was a natural progression. Oak is one of the strongest trees that grow in Estonia, and it also looks great. Since my professional background is actually in marine engineering, I also have a deep interest in welding and mechanics. My work in the field gave me the courage to build my equipment at a time when I couldn’t afford expensive machinery—but I had the materials and skills. I still enjoy challenging myself and constantly learning new things. Challenges are the driving force behind the development of our entire team.
Our team's greatest skill and strength lie in guiding clients on how to realize their ideas. Even if we can't offer a solution ourselves, we can at least point them in the right direction. I take it as a point of pride to never say no to a client.
At the same time, clients don’t need to have all the answers when they come to us. It's enough to have an idea, a vision of what they want to create. We can find a solution through our experience, portfolio, and research.
We enjoy our work because every collaboration teaches us something. Some projects teach us to do our work better, raising quality and standards. Others help us grow on a personal level. We love diversity—it keeps us alert and constantly evolving!
